Our dojo welcomes students of all levels--both men and women, foreign and Japanese. An introductory class is usually held on the first Saturday of each month. Please contact us if you are interested in participating.
The instruction is FREE, however the sports facilities charge 310 yen per person for use of the dojo, lockers and showers. Please note that our classes are NOT officially registered with the sports center but are conducted at times when the facilities are open to the general public.
Sunday evening Ki classes are usually held twice a month at a separate dojo. These additional classes are available to those who can attend the regular Saturday classes.
Please wear loose fitting clothing that you can move around in. A dogi (practice uniform) can be purchased for as little as 7,000 yen and is highly recommended. We can provide a map to a budo supply store in Ikebukuro.
The only way to advance in aikido is through regular and continued training. Insofar as aikido provides a way of cultivating self-discipline, such self-discipline begins with regular attendance. Please try to make a personal commitment to your training.
Promotional tests are conducted periodically and there is an exam fee of 4,000 yen. Eligibility for testing depends largely upon regularity of attendance, understanding of technique and aikido principles, one's attitude with respect to others, and attention to etiquette.
